Abstract

In the therapeutic process, assessment tools are key resources that enable a definition of the goals of therapy, monitoring and clarity of the results. In music therapy, there is a lack and little study of specific instruments validated for use in Brazil. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the applicability of the scale Individualized Music Therapy Assessment Profile (IMTAP) in patients with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Method. 4 of the 10 domains of the scale were analyzed in a sample of 9 patients with CP in 10 individual care sessions lasting 30 minutes each, conducted by two researchers: the researcher 1 was responsible for the initial and final assessment and the researcher 2 held the music therapeutic interventions. Results. There was no statistically significant as the distribution of gender, age and motor level, and no significant difference between the start and end times in all areas. Conclusion. The studied scale is applicable in patients with CP and through it is possible to trace the patient's profile and the music therapeutic goals. However, in order that the assessment is reliable, some sub-domains need to be adapted to this population because of the conditions of the pathology itself. The period of the survey was not enough to observe clinical progress.
