Nursing care of hospitalized children: effects of music as adjunctive therapy in pediatric care

Abstract
The hospitalization process is a potential stressor for the child, so it is extremely important that the nursing staff understand their role intervening in a humanized way to minimize the effects of this process. Considering the need of comprehensive care for hospitalized children and the importance attached to music therapy, your comfort and recovery, we propose for the present study to analyze the effect of such an intervention with a group of hospitalized children. The research was conducted at the Children´s Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of Marilia (Famema) in the pediatric ward. This was a descriptive study. Data were presented descriptively followed by comparative analysis with other studies. The study was approved by the Ethics in Research Famema , opinion no. 548/11, according to Resolution 196/96 of the National Health Council. The study included 20 children aged 3-10 years, who were in clinical and surgical treatment in the pediatric ward. To collect data, we used a semi a semi-structured, there was a pre-test in which the child responded to the instrument and companion, soon after, came the musical session lasting 15 minutes and then participants answered the post-test , our strategy was to work with musical visitations in order to provide children and their caregivers moments of relaxation, stress relief and emotional. It was possible to extract the speech of children and their facial expressions with signs of satisfaction, positivity, tranquility as well as the establishment of harmonious environment after the procedure musical.
