Abstract

This integrative review it is a result of reflections about spirituality and the Music Therapy field. For that reason, the objective of this research was to investigate, in the literature of the last twenty years, studies about spirituality in music therapy. The research enabled us to reflect, criticize and comprehend how each article addressed the subject. Initially there were 23 articles found, out of which 8 were excluded, and 15 selected for analysis. These were all related to the Health Care area, and the Music Therapy sessions resulted in improved quality in spiritual care, self-esteem, empowerment, connection with something bigger, hint of hope, motivation, reflections about cure, mind, body, soul, spiritual wellbeing and general health. More studies and contributions about the subject are necessary, specifically in the Brazilian field.
