Abstract

This article presents the relations between spirituality in health, Christian music, and Music Therapy. Aiming to know a general panorama on the theme, it is introduced through a bibliographical survey of theoretical basement on spirituality, health, Music therapy, and Christian music. With the objective of investigating the use of Christian music in Music Therapy, we present the study and analysis of repertoires played in the university extension project "Hospital Music Therapy: Empathic Looks", in the first semester of 2017. The research presents the predominance of Christian music in the sessions, explores about genres of Christian music, interpreters, and main characteristics of lyrics and music. From these findings, we discuss implications for Music Therapy practices and instigate reflections and future investigations on Music Therapy and spirituality.
