Music therapy improves the level of well-being of the person with dementia, promoting a better mood and stimulating cognitive functions. However, despite the increase of interventions in this field of study, several reviews indicate the need for more research and specialized and validated measurement instruments. This article aims to highlight the importance of assessment in the field of music therapy, to describe the main existing instruments in the field of dementia and to briefly present the Music in Dementia Assessment Scales (MiDAS), adapted and validated in Spanish (MiDAS-ESP).
