Modalities of compositional songwriting method: recent practices in Brazil in light of Felicity Baker

Abstract

This study sought to deepen the understanding of the composition method through a thematic analysis of key publications. A thematic analysis was conducted on scientific studies involving musical composition in music therapy, published after 2011, and examined in light of Felicity Baker's book Therapeutic Songwriting – Developments in Theory, Methods, and Practice. The application of Baker's proposed methodological frameworks enhanced the understanding of the analyzed publications, demonstrating their value as both a precise and constructive theoretical and practical reference for advancing musical composition in music therapy in Brazil.
