THE SONGWRITING AS THERAPEUTIC STRATEGY IN MUSIC THERAPY: A INTEGRATIVE REVIEW OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LITERATURE

Abstract

Investigations about the use of songwriting in music therapy are increasing in recent years. In order to clarify what is the technique, in which areas is used and what are the main findings so far was performed a integrative review on songwriting by patients in music therapy treatment in English language. For both were consulted 5 online search portals and selected 18 full articles from 9 scientific journals with authorship of 14 researchers. Selected articles presented the term songwriting as the topic of work and related this technique with the production of music therapy patients. Among the main results highlighted the favoritism of the manifestation of feelings and emotions, satisfaction in building something own, the conquest of recount their experiences with freedom. The therapeutic process of songwriting introduced himself as a very useful feature within music therapy techniques.
