Abstract

Music therapy is an alternative treatment to people with life threatening diseases, with no healing therapeutic possibilities, that receive palliative care. This study aims to present the national and international scientific production including music, music therapy and palliative care, between 2009 and 2012. It was done a research at health sciences data bases Lilacs and Medline that found 2 national and 23 international texts. The outcomes showed that the use of music and music therapy brings benefits to patients, relatives and health professionals. However, the research production about the theme is poor, and more studies have to be done and consequent publications in Brazil.
