This paper presents reflections from a research carried out in the fields of Music Therapy and Mental Health. The central focus of the research aimed to investigate the use of the technique Musical Re-creation - Song - as a possibility for women to construct meaning in their lives narrating them through the songs. The research, a qualitative approach was developed in two psychiatric institutions, with a team of two music therapists and two students of Music Therapy. The material was collected in sessions of Music Therapy during one year. This material was recorded in audio and transcribed for analysis. The results were positive about the proposed objective, pointing to the potential of the song, in a Music Therapy context, to assist in rescuing the history of life, in the expression of content and in the construction of meaning and new meaning for women who were in deep psychological distress.
