MUSICOTERAPIA E SÍNDROME DE ASPERGER: RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA

Abstract

This work concerns a study related to the use of music as therapy with a patient with Asperger syndrome which is defined as a syndrome of autistic spectrum, differentiating itself from the classic autism for not submitting delay or global delayed in the cognitive development or in the language of the individual. Its main symptoms: difficulty in social interaction, lack of empathy, difficulty with changes, stereotyped behaviors. The case refers to a male patient, age of 8 years old. The patient presented as a characteristic non-verbal communication. The work had as main objective to achieve, through music, changes in social behavior, verbal communication and expression of internal content. The musictherapeutic process was developed through weekly sessions totaling 11 meetings. The methodology used was mainly the Musical Improvisation. The results showed improvement in behavior, affection, intra and interpersonal interaction and verbal communication. Finally it is expected that this work can serve as incentive for the development of research and clinical performance of Music Therapy and other health areas.
