Abstract

The objective of the study was to identify in the literature the contributions of music therapy practice involving group interaction. An integrative review was carried out in the CAPES, SciELO, Brazilian Journal of Music Therapy and Revista Voices databases, with the descriptors "Music therapy" and "Groups" and Boolean operator "AND". Results: From 204 articles found on the topic, 186 were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria, leaving 18 articles for analysis. The articles found provided a broad study of music therapy in different groups, social classes, diagnoses and ethnicities. The studies showed significant improvements in the groups, provided by the interventions. Among the benefits verified, there is an increase in self-esteem, better sociability, social isolation reduction, better expression of identity, increased self-confidence, creation of emancipation, among others. Conclusion: group music therapy practices provide significant benefits to participants, creating and strengthening bonds between individuals and, at the same time, helping them with their individual issues.
