Patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis undergo significant changes in their lives, which may involve the organic, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions. Suffering is likely to arise and it can be expressed by conditions of severe anxiety, lack of hope in life and fear of death. Claiming that the association of music to the ability that the man has to connect himself with the Sacred can be a strong protective factor to the overall health of patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis treatment and in order to understand the influence of spirituality through religious songs in hospital treatment is the basis of this article. Based on these results, it is highlighted the importance of the music therapist and other health professionals who must have a careful watchful eye that goes beyond the physiological issues, such as the emotional, social, mental and spiritual dimensions of the patient, considering the beliefs, religiosity and spirituality of the patient, with the aim to provide strategies that serve as support for the treatment and to minimize suffering in all contexts.
