This study is an integrative review of the music therapy perspectives and the musical experiences used in the clinical practice of Brazilian music therapists with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. For being a reference journal for Brazilian music therapy, the Brazilian Journal of Music Therapy (BRJMT) was chosen as the database, covering all editions, in the period from 1996 to 2024. Twenty-two publications related to music therapy and autism were found. Most publications report using more than one musical experience, with improvisation being the most used. Most publications do not specify the music therapy perspective used, and when they do, the perspectives are diverse. We conclude by pointing out the usefulness of the four musical experiences and the importance of music therapists' identifying the perspective that underlies their practice.
