The aim of this review is to provide an evidence-based synthesis of the research literature on music intervention, done by music therapists and other professionals, with babies. The study has demonstrated that there is interest from several disciplines in better understand the possible applications of music with this population. The applied research methodologies are diverse and so are the results, promoting wellbeing not only for the babies but for their families/caregivers, facilitating breastfeeding, relaxation, sleep, a quicker discharge of premature babies from the hospital, more breast milk production and less parents stress, among other goals.
