Recent studies show that the majority of individuals on the autistic spectrum have difficulty in sensory processing in several domains, therefore, in order to understand the complexity of this disorder and seek forms of treatment that enhance development and reduce the negative impacts that deficits have on the life of the autistic person, it becomes necessary to understand about sensory systems, how sensory processing takes place in the brain and what changes are present in the processing and response to stimuli of autistic people. In addition, based on the positive results that Music Therapy has shown in the treatment of ASD, this research aimed to investigate the contribution of music therapy intervention in the sensory aspects involved in Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Based on a narrative review of the literature, the present study concluded that Music Therapy has the potential to intervene in the sensory difficulties frequently present in Autism, as it allows for multisensory experiences, and that the number of studies that seek to understand the results of this therapy in sensory aspects of ASD is still scarce. Therefore, it is concluded that more research on the subject is needed in the area.
