Abstract
One of the greatest challenges of Music therapy today, apart from its search for theoretical bases and its insertion into different areas of society, is the inclusion of its practice into different problematic contexts that we find in Latin countries, as we share with them similar situations of social inequality. Within these contexts, we highlight the education practices in Brazilian public schools, specifically those of Rio de Janeiro city, facing deteriorate labor and structural conditions. This article is a reflection on Music therapy practices inside the educational system, the gap between education and Music therapy, and mainly, the need for an interdisciplinary interaction for the purpose of collectively finding solutions for their problems.
